I have a virtual machine that I had tried to power off and it is hung at 95%. I can't do anything to get it to shut down. I even tried the powercli and to no avail it says Another task is already in progress. Does anyone have any advice short of rebooting the host? I am running the latest 4.1 release.
Thanks
You can use esxcli from the latest vCLI to kill a VM - see page 95 http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp4_41_vcli_inst_script.pdf. Potentially you can also use the kill command in tech support mode, but if esxcli with the force option doesn't work then kill may not help either.

Do you have a system or PCI card working with VMDirectPath? Submit your specs to the Unofficial VMDirectPath HCL.

I couldn't do a force on the VM in Powercli, but the kill command worked like a champ in the vcli.
Thanks!
