Have you browsed the datastore? Is there no vmx file there? Is the datastore on which your VM stays disconnected?

ls: ./XXX6.vmdk: Input/output error

ls: ./XXX6.vmx: Input/output error

ls: ./XXXXlog: Input/output error

While the VM is being migrated to another datastore, you can expect this to happen, since we have something called as reservation locks in esxi. Check no other operations are being performed on the VM, like Storage vmotion or DRS
