Hello,
Just wanted to check if lowering # of CPU and RAM on a Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine ok.
Environment
Vcenter 4.1
ESXi 4.1
Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine
Process I am planning to follow:
Create a snapshot of the vm
Reduce CPU and RAM from edit settings
Login to windows machine and check cpu and memory
Remove snapshot
Is that enough or are there any additional steps to follow.
Thanks
Assuming the Windows VM is powered off while reducing the resources there should be no issues with this.

Are you sure that hotremove of a CPU is possible with 2008 R2 ?
Will power off the vm to do the changes.
Hi,
If you are powering of the VM then i suggest don't take snapshot as it's time consuming as well as increases the size of hard disk. All you need to test is CPU and RAM with Windows Server 2008 R2 which you could always add and remove.
