Virtual appliance for CentOS

Anyone know if there is a VM with strictly the base CentOS 5.5 64-bit installed only so I can just download it without bothering with the install process? Or best yet, a complete LAMP with the latest versions? I found some but they're based on Ubuntu rather than CentOS.

Hello.

Perhaps the "[A minimal and secure CentOS 5.5 64 bits virtual appliance|http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/575943]" will work?

Good Luck!

Nice. That was quick. However, it says the actual installed OS was 5.3? Wonder why they disabled sendmail and yum.

Hi,

you are right, it isn't clear if it is CentOS 5.3 or 5.5.

Anyway making a upgrade from 5.3 to 5.5 it's very easy Smiley Happy

In the virtual appliance description it's explained that the unnecessary services are disabled. Then the virtual appliance's author thinks sendmail and yum-updatesd are unnecessary.

If the appliance don't need send mail or isn't a mail server, then sendmail is not necessary.

Yum-updatesd is disabled but this doesn't really affect the usual use of yum. It's ok.
