Virtual Machine Backup Question

Okay I have 2x500gb SATA Harddrives and I've been having issues with my RAID card and speed. So what I was thinking was, what if I copied each virtual machines from Datastore 1 to Datastore 2. Then if one of the harddrive crashed, would I be able to see the other harddrive when I reinstalled ESXi? Thanks

You definitely can do that, take a look at: and make sure you're using ghettoVCB4i.sh as its specific to ESXi 4.0
