Virtual Domain Controller Disk

Hello All

I'm about to create a Virtual DC and would like to know if there are any issues with using 'thin provision' disks is it best not to do this an asign the full disk?

regards

Wayne

here is a good doc on the performance whitepaper. for me it's almost the same. http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsp_4_thinprov_perf.pdf

Agreed - for most use cases, thin performance is very similar to think (and even EZT).

Its really about capacity planning at this point.

It won't matter for a DC, since they usually have very little IO requirements and the thin-provisioning performance hit is really small, as you can see in that whitepaper linked earlier.

Maybe you should consider setting the disk to independant-persistent though, as this will disallow the creation of snapshots, which could be if handled incorrectly a problem for your AD.
