Video Memory in VM's

When you add video memory to a vm does this come out of it's ram allocation?  So if you gave a machine 2gb of ram and 256mb for video.  Will it only have 1.75gb of memory for ram?

Hello.

No, it is added to the virtual machine's memory overhead. You can verify this by selecting a VM and viewing the memory overhead on the Summary tab. Modify the virtual machine's video memory and then review the memory overhead value.

Good Luck!
