VMware used Memory KB = Guest OS Pysical Memory -> 2008R2:free 2003:aviable(why?)

Hi,

so the descrioption field says it almoust. It wanted to test the porting of an Software from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008R2.

I wantet to test the memory usage when both VM have the same RAM memory.

I noticed when You use the Performance menu from vSphere Client and used Memory KB (I only have the german menu hope that name fits to the english one):

You get the free memory from the 2008R2 and aviable from the 2003 system. (suitable results comparing this parameters in the guest os, checking the thing with taskmanager)

But (ok memory handling differs from vista/2008 up to the handling in old 2003/xp but ) to compare both results it imho should be nearer to the "truth" to get the aviable memory from both systems as result?

Is that a bug?

ESX 4.0.0

vSphere 4.0.0
