Hi,

what do you mean by "through download iso"?

Did you right click on the VM in vSphere Client -> Guest -> Install VMare Tools

so that the ISO gets mounted inside the VM, so you can run the setup?

Did you log into the VM with RDP or the vSphere Console to look if the setup.exe runs automaticly?

If the installer doesn't start run the setup.exe on the ISO mounted in your CD-ROM inside the VM.

That is quite interesting, the tools should not tell you about out-of-date tools in a freshly installed ESXi and in a freshly prepared VMs.

Have you patched your ESX any time. Even then, when you select vmwaretools install, it should have prompted you: "Automatic " or "Interactive" not a fresh installing menu.

Can you let me know the following output from the vmware.log file of your VM?

cat /vmfs/volumes/<Datastore1>/<VM>/vmware.log | grep -i "Compared tools manifest"
