VMware snapshot size problem

Hello,

We have Windows 2008 R2 with only one 50GB virtual harddisk, after done the snapshot, entire virtual machine increased to 100GB size. Will snapshot increase double size ?

Thanks

The provisioned size value will double as that reflects the maximum space that the virtual disks could consume.  The actual snapshot file will be small and only grow as needed.   If you're looking at the files via the datastore browser,  you should see both a size (actual) and provisioned size (theoretical maximum) columns.

A snapshot can grow up to the provisioned virtual disk size, which is the size you configured for the virtual disk. Because the snapshot contains the changes made after creating it, it will start with a small size and grow as required. Take a look at the Datastore Browser window to see the sizes Dave mentioned (size vs. provisioned size). The size column shows the current "real" file size, whereas the provisioned size shows the theoretical maximum size.
