I am running ESX4.1-U2. I recently upgraded my hosts to U2 and upgraded my VMtools on my virtual machines. I perform the VMtools upgrade in interactive mode on each virtual machine. It appears that some older virtual machines that started out with an older version of VMtools are not upgrading to the latest version. For instance, one virtual machine is running v2.0.0 build-122956, while another is running v8.3.12 build-653202. However, when you look at the VMtools status in vCenter it says that these older versions are OK after I ran the upgrade. Should I uninstall the older version and install the newer version to force it to upgrade to the latest version?
