VMware Tools CLI for vSphere 5

Is there anyway using VMware Tools CLI for both Linux and Windows to audit the VMX files associated with the VM for specific values?  I do not have access (and will not get access) to vCenter or the ESX server.  An example of what I'm looking for is to check if

isolation.tools.copy.disable = "TRUE"

And check a bunch of other values too.

I don't think it works without permissions to either vCenter or the ESXi host. There are multiple ways to achieve your goal, but you need some kind of permission.

Thanks...that's what it seems to me.  That I need to have vCLI installed.  I can get a couple things from VMware Tools but not everything that I need to be able to do.  Thanks for the feedback.
