VMware Esxi 4.1.0 stopped detect any USB Device

Hello everybody, it's been a while since my Vmware Server 4.1.0 stopped detecting any USB device that is plugged into. We have done several procedures but any device is not detected, thus we can not add USB Devices on virtual machines.

The USB devices when we installed the server was working normally now no more.

Procedures already made
reboot
services.sh restart
lsusb - No device appears

Anyone have any idea how to proceed?

thank you

Firmware updates and upgrading ESXi helped for one of my IBM machines. There is a known issue with 4.1 and 5.0 and upgrading to U1 resolves it. Might be worth a try.

Your problem might be because the USB Arbitrator service has stopped.

However , with ESXi host restart the service gets restarted not sure why it was still not resolved.

But, worth trying to restart the service manually.

To Stop the serivce  : /etc/init.d/usbarbitrator stop

Connect your USB and start the service : /etc/init.d/usbarbitrator start
