    I downloaded and install VWare ESXi 4 and Vsphere client under the understanding that I was using a free license as the web page https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/index.php?p=free-esxi&lp=1 states

    But on the vsphere client I keep getting the message "your evaluation license will expire within X Days". I only have one key that I applied during the ESXi installation.

    Is my understanding of the license accurate.

    Since install media is the same for both free ESXi and full ESXi, the only difference is serial number.

    You need to enter it on Configuration / Licensed Features tab.

    You should have received your license key in an email from vmware or you can find it by logging in and going to the ESXi download page.
