Hello,
We are running VMware ESX 4.1 U2 across 8 hosts are we are planning to up upgrade it to 5.5, however we are running a few Windows 2012 servers which I know are unsupported using the "hack" from Windows Server 2012 on ESXi 4.1 | Jon Giffard's Blog and we are wonderign if these will have issues during the migration as they will become supported once on 5.5. We will be testing this on our test envirmonment, but I'm wondering if someone has been through a similar scenario?
Thanks
Well I don't know for certain, but after reviewing the "hack" I would guess that they would work. If I had one suggestion, it would be to lab it and test.
Hi,
It will work. I faces same issue with Windows 7 on ESX 4.1 deployed using SCCM 2012. I also had to use this "hack" to do it. Now after migration to 5.* it is working fine.
Consider vmx "hack" cleanup after migration to 5.5.
Hi,
With regards to the vmx cleanup is it just a case og removing what we have added? We just didn't know how 5.5 would handle the boot up process if it saw the hack code and the bios file?
Thanks
