Do you have an example or a specific error message?

Basically you need to ensure the hosts in the cluster are compatible or use an EVC baseline and you need to setup an appropriate vMotion network.

there could be many reason for the failure of vMotion, for example: you need to ensure both the source and the destination hosts have similar CPUs or have the cluster configured with EVC option, both the hosts have same storage and network and so on..
