VMX upgrade instructions

I got these instructions but how do you upgrade VMX version is this "hardware" version?

1. Take snapshot on the VM.
2. Install vmware-tool to the latest (12.4.0 -> It supports windows 7 sp1 or windows server 2008 R2 SPL and later).
3. Power off the VM
4. upgrade vmx version vmx-19
5. Power on the VM.
