Hi all, I have an application for fax workflow, I would like to run on 1 of our virtual apps, however for some reason the application which licences itself on the NIC Mac addy fails to come back with licencing details...I have tried with static mac addy and automatic mac addresses...I had it working fine on physical box, but the error came back when I converted it to Virtual....
There must be something different about NIC Mac addresses in a virtual environment
Attached is error message...I am waiting for the developers to come back with some info as to why this would work, but was hoping to start something off here.....
This is the 1st app I have been unable to get working in a VM!!
Regards
Greg
Unfortunally you cannot choose a generic MAC address at ESX level.
You can try to change it from guest side:

Hi Andre, yes I have tried manual mac address, firstly so I can move the VM without having to worry about the licence however it doesnt help. What I need to know is why cant the software request API hardware info from VMWare like it can with a physical box?
MAC address assigned from ESX or vCenter Server has the first part of the address (the vendor part) fixed.
This is the problem and unfortunately is not possible to change this part.
