VMWare Esxi 5.5 Core dump to disk

Good afternoon!

I am facing a problem in VMware esxi 5.5 Free.

The server is crashing and showing a purple screen with the message "core dump to disk. Slot 1 of 1 ....".

I searched about the problem but have not found a solution.

We are migrating from VMware to XenServer.

In my environment, I have a SAN with Equallogic PS4100.

Can anyone tell me what might be happening?

Attached image.

Thank you.

Looks like you're affected by this issue:

Unfortunately there is no patch for ESXi 5.5 yet. The workaround is to replace the e1000 vNIC in VMs with another vNIC like the vmxnet3.

The error is shown in the first line as PF Exception

VMware KB: Understanding Exception 13 and Exception 14 purple diagnostic screen events in ESX 3.x/4....

Core dump is not the issue. During a host failure with a purple diagnostic screen, VMware ESXi/ESX attempts to save diagnostic information to one or more pre-configured locations. That's the core dump message.

You mean I have to go where these dumps are saved?

Thus I think a solution?

According to KB, "The page fault (Exception 14) Occurs when the page being requested has not been successfully loaded into memory". May be a problem with the vmware-tools?

thank you

Yes the diagnostics dump will be saved there on the disk.

I can tell its because of a issue with some VM. Not really sure if its the tools.

This is a Known problem, The fix is yet to be releases for the 5.5, As per MKguy you could replace the "e1000 vNIC in VMs with another vNIC like the vmxnet3." or if you want to keep using the e1000 then disable the rss inside the guest OS.
