Take a look here - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/ESXi_35_common_issues.php#Unable_to_find_a_supported_device. It's for 3.5 but you have the same issue. If you then go to the homepage you'll find the hardware list for 4.0

Do you have a system or PCI card working with VMDirectPath? Submit your specs to the Unofficial VMDirectPath HCL - http://www.vm-help.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21.
The Sata HDD of your machine may not be supported. If it is not supported the driver will not be loaded and ESXi unable to find out your Disks.

While installing the esxi 4 error comming like 'Failed to lvmdriver'.
Inside log error is "lvmdriver failed to load with status -1,01 0xbad0001 ..
sysboot:34storage -drivers, returend critical failure...
waring :Term:1242:Unknown ASVSI sequence...
Cpu1:4539 ALERT :Util:L1004:fail trying to get a valid vmkernal MAC address: failure. Verious VMkernel subsystems will provide lower quilty of service. Please add/configure VMkernel NICs."
You would need to add a NIC that ESXi can recognize. See vm-help.com for that list.

So, I neet to buy new NIC for vmware?
You can add something like an Intel Pro 1000 GT or head over to vm-help.com for a realtek driver.
