VMWARE message: CPU failure?

On a HP360GL6, we are using ESX 4 vsphere. Just a testing server for this moment but....

We have got this message (see attachment) this morning. a hard reboot solved the first need but what does this call tells us? We are thinking of a cpu failure.

If this is so, we can take action for replace the CPU.

If somebody know this message, please be so kind share your knowledge.

This may not relate to CPU this looks more like a bad memory , if you look in the bottom of screen it says MCE ( Machine Check Excepion) in CPU7 bank8 ( Bank -8 will be hosting your memory). I will advise you to put this machine under some severe memory stress by running memio or any other tool that you can use.

Thanks,

Samir

I woud look in the event log accessible through the HP BIOS - it will likely list the issue i.e. bad DIMM etc.

Please award points to any useful answer.
