Hello,
Is there any doc which has list of all supported VMDirectPath I/O cards list for esxi 5.0?
I'm using R720 with Fusion IO and EMulex FC card, Can i do passthrough for fusion IO cards to my windows VMs?
Thx for your answer.
Hi!
You can use the HCL to find out if your card is supported.
Select IO Devices -> VMware ESX(i) version and a keyword.
Fusion-IO ->
ioDrive
ioDrive2
ioMemory are supported VMdirectPath.
I'm not sure if R720 supports VMdirectPath but you can easily check:
If using Intel you need support for VT-d, if you're using AMD you need IOMMU support enabled in the bios.
In vSphere Client navigate to a host - Configuration - Hardware - Advanced if I recall correctly.

Thx Martine, In this page it says that IO Device is supported But i want to check for VM Direct IO for IOdrive.
Do you have any idea on that?
R720 has VT-d option and IO drive is supported as IO device but then how about Direct path IO?
Here is link about device supporttingVMDirectPath I/O: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-11089
But it is not latest, I don't know whether there is any updates.
Thx..but this does not call out supported card? anyone has latest list?
Hi
Please check Configuration tab, Hardware -> Advanced Options. There you have "Configure Passthrough", if it's listed there it means you can do it..
Here are some devices mentioned in the doc: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-11089
VMDirectPath I/O is experimentally supported for the following Storage and Network I/O devices:
QLogic QLA25xx 8 Gb Fibre Channel adapters
Emulex LPe12000 8 Gb Fibre Channel adapters
LSI 3442e-R and 3801e (1068 chip based) 3 Gb SAS adapters
Intel 82598 10 Gigabit Ethernet controller
Broadcom 57710 and 57711 10 Gigabit Ethernet controllers
Hmm. It does not list Fusion IODrive...
