VMDK file disappeared

Hello,

I also faced the same problem. can you help?

There were 000001 and 000002 sesparse files. 000003 and 000004 occurred later. I need the data in my 000001 and 000002 files.

I am sending all data as zip.

When I restore from .vmdk file I get data 07-07-2022. I think my 27-07-2022 data is in 000001 and 000002 sesparse files. I have a serious data loss of 20 days right now.

000003 and 000004 vmdk occurred after my actions.

I ask for your help.

It's likely possible to recreate the snapshot chain, so that the virtual disk can be accessed again, but since it's a database that's stored on this virtual disk, you may end up with data corruption!

To find out which option we have, please allow me some questions:

  1. what happend, that may have caused the issue (e.g. power loss, etc.)?
  2. when did you last backup the database (SQL dump, or external backup)?
  3. did you power on the VM with the base virtual disk attached (i.e. without snapshots)?
  4. would it be ok to use the "SSD2" datastore as a target for a manual clone?

André

PS: I created a new discussion from your reply to an older one.
