VMDK created under server 2.0.2 will it work with ESXi 5.5

I was running server 2.0.2 and it crashed last week. I figured it was time to upgrade to ESXi 5.5 since Server 2.0.2 is no longer supported. I have a copy of a VMDK file for a hosted  server that I needed to get up and running.

My question is does ESXi 5.5 support a VMDK file that was created in Server 2.0.2? If not, is there a was to upgrade it, etc so once I get ESXi 5.5 installed I can get my server up and running?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Welcome to the Community,

whether ESXi supports the .vmdk file depends on it's format. Anyway, you can use either VMware Converter to convert the virtual machine to the ESXi hosts which automatically converts the .vmdk to the appropriate format or use the vmware-vdiskmanager command line utility to convert the ,vmdk to an ESXi compatible format and then upload the virtual disk.
