VMDK Files show on old datastore after Storage vMotion?

I had a VM on an iSCSI volume.  I moved it to a local volume using Storage vMotion.  Now if I look on the old iSCSI volume I still see the folder for that VM and it contains just VMDK files.

I'm a little confused since the new datastore definitely shows the as being there (and the VM definition points to the new datastore).

The filenames on the old datastore are vmname.vmdk and vmname-000002.vmdk and vmname-000004.vmdk - there are no snapshots showing.

Any ideas welcome.

If you are sure they aren't being used you can remove them.

You could try consolidation if it is needed. You could also try creating a snapshot and then "delete all snaphots" and see if they are being touched or not. How old are they at the moment?

They sure as heck don't seem to be in use.  The dates are from this morning when I was doing some backups/snapshots.

@nielse - I just took a snapshot and deleted it and the dates on those old copies didn't change - presumably if they are in use it wouldn't let me delete them?

You can try renaming them to see if they are in use. I've seen this with backup software before, where these snapshot files get left behind. Also, check your VMX and make sure that the files are not referenced there.

Big chance they aren't in use then. As mentioned double check the VMX file and if they are not listed in there, you can remove them.
