VMCA - what is a node

In the vSphere Installation and Setup guide page 18  it states:

VMCA provisions each node, each vCenter Server solution user, and each ESXi host with a certificate that is signed

by VMCA as the certificate authority.

I always thought a node was referring to a host.  With ESXi host already called out in the above sentence, what is node referring to?

Node is vCenter Management Node

like I deploy PSC (which has SSO, VMCA etc..)

and now I deploy vCenter Server Management Node and link it with PSC.

if this is Embedded deployment than PSC and vCenter Management Node are part of the same host.

if you are doing External PSC deployment than management node is a different machine.
