VM won't start after failed snapshot

We've got a VM that was stuck at 95% taking a snapshot and we couldn't cancel it.  They restarted the management agents on the host

and the snapshot failed but now the VM won't power on.  It just says that it's in an invalid state but no more details then that.

Use this KB http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1014165 or this http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1004340 to kill the VM (it may be still powered on but not reflected on the inventory).

After that, take care of the snapshot, because most probably the VM will be running over it.

I'd take a look at this flowchart, but I would move cloning the VM up to #1 before you start deleting snapshots.
