I have a VM which performs "bad"....checked esxtop for any unnormal symptoms but didnt find anything.

Average cpu usage of 2 vCPUs is arround 50% and more..

Checked with perfmon the pagefile usage, but the pagefile isnt used, memory usage 2GB of 3GB....any ideas?

printscreen of my VM in esxtop is in the attachment (VM name is not visible)

How many cores does the host have?

VMware Tools installed inside the guest?

Define "bad". There is an specific application that is slow? What kind of application and GuestOS do you have? ESX version?

HA/DRS CLuster with 3 Host each has 8 Cores/2CPU's (No DRS actions have taking place for the last days)

    VMware Tools installed

    VI3.5 U5

    W2k8

    Logistic Application which is "sluggish"....

Ok, so I am considering no other application is slow, like IE or wordpad or solitaire. Try checking on your Edit Settings, resource tab, if the memory is not limited (checked the unlimited box), and also CPU. Reboot the VM and test.

How many vCPUs there are on the VM?

The posts says he has two vcpus.

I would try the vm with one vcpu and see if that improves the performance.

I agree with the try changing the VM to use 1 vCPU and see if the CPU %ready and the performance of the VM gets any better.

If your 2vCPU's are consistently over 50% perhaps your app could make use of more cores or hyperthreading. I know the drawbacks of SMP, but some apps perform better with more cores to multithread on. How does it perform with 4 cores? If it is significantly faster try that or using shares / reservations.

I added 2 vCPUs (The VM is now using 4vCPUs), I will post if this workarround helps.....
