VM setting 'video card' -> 'Maximum number of displays'

Hi Guys,

Anyone have a good handle on the above aspect of a vm's configuration? I have created a w2k3 VM, and tried to change the value here from 1 to 2 while the vm is powered off, and when it is powered on it reverts back to 1.

Is this setting meant to make my VM multi-headed? It doesnt appear that the VI client has been changed to handle multiheaded VM's - so if it if this feature is meant to add additional displays, i gather they are only accessable by an OS tool (RDP style access?)

Any ideas on what this is? I tried to RTFM, but I couldnt find anything on it.

Regards,

David

I do not know if there is a max video card value.

In official documentation (http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_40_config_max.pdf) is not mentioned.

But I've only see configuration with 1 single video card.

This setting does not have any effect on the VM and is only used when using VMware View and the PCoIP protocol.

The View Connection server is then editing the vmx-file directly.
