VM's hang host

So I have two Windows 2008 R2 64bit VM's. For a couple of weeks they have been running fine. Today though they started hanging my ESXi 4.1 host. What first happens is the VM completely hangs, you then try to power off the VM and it sits at 95% forever. If you try to power on another VM on the same host it won't ever power on. If you try and restart the host it never restarts. Only powering off the host can you get it to respond again. I can move the VM's to another host and then it starts exhibiting the same behavior. I have already done the WDDM video driver update. Sometimes it hangs the host even before Windows boots to a gui. Any ideas? I've opened a critical case with VMware and after 5 hours still no call back!

thanks

Your system is in HCL also for vSphere 4.1?
