after successfully upgrading 2 esxi 4.1 to 4.1 update 2, every VM on these 2 VM failed to get connection. If I remove the VM to another esxi 4.1 update 2 that is not on the cluster, it can connect to the network, else it cannot even ping its gateway. On dvswitch, i can see the VMs port link is down.
one way for me to circumvent this is by creating a new vNIC on a normal virtual switch
what is actually happening here?
if you remove and re add this machine to the dvSwitch does it come back online? Also a little bit of a stupid question, but is the nic connected?
the nic is only connected in the situation it is on another outside of the cluster.
so i tried removing one of the host (host A) outside of vDSwitch, reconfigure vSwitch and VM can connect to network. After I re-add host A to the dvswitch, the VM also can reach the uplink's network.
but if i do the same to all hosts, the VM could not connect to the network anymore.
so i though this might had to do something with dvswitch being srewed after upgrade, so i removed host A from dvswitch, reconfigured vswitch but the VM is not able to reach uplink's network. The only dissimilarity from last configuration are that i create 2 vswitch, 1 management port for each uplink (2 uplinks connecting to different network), 1 vmotion for each vswitch.
i found these in that VM's vmware.log
