VM guest NIC stops responding randomly, sometimes near reboot, until guest NIC is disabled/re-enabled

I just opened a support ticket that reads:

Guest VM's randomly stop responding to network traffic until the guest NIC is reset by a guest disable/enable or a VM NIC disconnect/connect. happening to multiple VMs on multiple hosts, with various guest OS versions.

vNICs = flexible or E1000 so far that I have noted.

Please help. I do not like my VM's unstable like they are now.

I just installed all VMware patches on my six hosts.

here is a spreadsheet I started compiling to figure out the common variable. I should have started this spreadsheet months ago, but I only created it today.

I've had issues like this with the E1000 nic. Change to VMXNET3.

I will try that. However, I think some of the machines that have had the issue also use the VMXNET 3 adapter. I just did not list every VM that had the problem. The data is from too many months ago.

I will test with the VMXNET 3 for a while.

You're using VLAN and NIC Teaming ? If yes, this seems to be a configuration mismatch and I strictly recommend you read the entire blog post: Troubleshooting Network Teaming Problems in ESX/ESXi | VMware Support Insider - VMware Blogs
