VM error "Unable to connect to the MKS: Error connecting to /vmfs/volumes/xxx

Hi,

On one of VM we see the error message as

Unable to connect to the MKS: Error connecting to /vmfs/volumes/xxx

Even we tried to kill the vm but does not help us. not allowed to power off even.

Can you help me what is this error and how to trouble shoot who is causing ?

Nothing seem to solve the issue.

Neither allow to power on or off.

if we use Ps with grep, does not show the vm as running.

I saw some blogs to restart host but several other vms are running.

try this first, from the console of your ESX Host. This will have no impact on your guests.

service mgmt-vmware restart

Make sure your VM /vmfs/volumes/xxx is accesible. If you hav vcenter, try vMotion it to another host.

try $ps auwwx | grep vmname
