VM created in Esxi cannot see network

Hi,

I have installed Esxi 5.5 and I have no problems accessing it and creating a VM.

However, the VM, which is Windows 2012, does not start with a network adaptor.

When I check the VM configuration, the Network adaptor is connected, powered on, E1000E but says DirectPath I/O is not supported. I do not have VMWare tools installed on the VM.

I do not understand where the problem lies. I connect to Esxi ok. I can run the VM within Esxi client ok but the images says there is no network.

I have created Windows 2012 VM's before, outside of Esxi and the built in network card is detected ok.

STOP PRESS - In Windows Computer Management, Devices, the Ethernet Controller is not recognised. So how do I get the VM to recognise it when it is running in ESXI?

Help?

Thanks

Jason

Also can you check with VMXNET adapter or tru uninstalling and reinstalling VMware tools.

In the VM properties is network card connected? Do you have a check mark for connected and connected at power on?
