Check if your ESX 4.0U1 host is able to ping gateway and dns server .

Check if the VM has ethernet adapter and is part of a vSwitch

Check if the vSwitch has an uplink to a physical nic/adapter .

Double check your vmnic status is connected. How bout other VMs under same port group?

Welcome Jarey to vmware community.

It may be an issue with the virtula adapter. Choose the adaptrer which suites your VM and try again. The following KB may help you in selecting the appropriate adapter.

Good news to everyone!

I just reset my host machine to default and all adapters are working now.

I don't know the reason.

Anyway, the problem gone.
