VM Migration

I need to migrate from one location to another location.. I can't do vMotion since they're not on the same network.  I don't have any other tools available either to migrate the VM live.

My question is how can I move the VM live from one location to another w/o downtime?

thanks.

My suggestion is to replicate your vm using vsphere replication, once its done you can powerup your destination vm.

You can remove host from exiting VC and add it to another.

If doesn't have reachablity for ESXi host in another VC, there is no other way to migrate live VM as per your scenario.

Even if you are replicating VM using vSphere Replication, there would be slight downtime during power on process.

You can not keep both VM up at particular time with same configuration.

The last time I did something similar I used this approach; worked quite well, actually. There is still a downtime during the final stage - but it's rather a short one.

Cheers.
