VM-Host Affinity Rules Not Working With Fault Tolerance - vSphere 6.5

Can VM-Host affinity rules work with fault tolerant VMs?

We have four nodes in a cluster with both HA and DRS enabled and working. EVC is also enabled.

We have implemented affinity rules that state on which host certain VMs should run. These rules work with all VMs that do not have fault tolerance enabled.

On the VMs that do have fault tolerance enabled, the affinity rules don't seem to work. DRS recognizes that the VM is violating a soft affinity rule but it doesn't migrate it.

We would like the rules to work so that the primary and secondary fault tolerant VMs can run on different blade chassis (to protect against the possibility of a blade chassis failure).

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes. VM-Host affinity rules can be used to place FT Primary and Secondary VMs on specific hosts. (Reference: VMware vSphere 6.5 Documentation Library)

As the rules associate remaining hosts, other than Primary & Secondary hosts, with the FT VMs, the soft rules are ignored and there is no migration. (VMware vSphere 6.5 Documentation Library)
