VCenter with 2 hosts, need to start vm on the other host

I have lost the connection to one of two hosts in the vCenter. How do I start a vm registered on the host that is down. ?

Damn, I found how. I had to log into the HOST and not do it from the vCenter. Got it to work.Smiley Happy

Assuming that the first host is dead (i.e. the VM ain't running anymore), and the files are located on shared storage, you may register the VM manually on the second host.

In case this is a result of an unprotected VM in an HA cluster, you may like the new features in vSpehre 6.0 (see "Registration of HA Disabled VMs" http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2015/02/04/whats-new-ha-vsphere-6-0/).

The machine is dead, so I would like to register it on the other machine. How do I do that?

Logon to the surviving host using the vSphere Client, then right click the VM's configuration (.vmx) file in the Datastore Browser and add the VM to the inventory.
