VCenter Heartbeat on virtual appliances

Dear All,

I'm pretty new to the Vmware world and to this forum

we have a small vmware environment with one vceneter 5.5 virtual appliance we would like to have some fault tolerance on the vcenter

the Heart beat product looks like it will do the trick the problem is that according to my research it can only be installed on windows vcenter versions for the moment,

is that correct?

assuming yes what would be my best option for achieving vcenter virtual appliance redundancy

Many thanks in advance for your replies

Kind Regards

Mehdi

vCenter Server Heartbeat really supports only the Windows version of vCenter, anyway the vCenter Server Heartbeat is End of Availability, take a look: High Availability for Virtual Infrastructure: vCenter Server Heartbeat | United States

Since you cannot purchase vCSHB anymore, VMware recommends you protect your vCenter virtual machine (Windows or Linux Appliance) using vSphere High Availability (HA)... and in next release of vSphere you will be able to protect using Fault Tolerance (FT) :slightly_smiling_face:
