Recently did a v2v conversion from esx4 to esx6 with vmware converter. Everything went great, the server powered up and is running now. Plugged in a usb drive and enable passthrough, the device instantly fails giving an error "Windows has stopped this device because it reported problems." this is a usb 5TB drive. I have purchased another 2 TB drive and tested, and get the same thing. I have removed the drives and controller from the vm, rebooted the vm and the host, added everything back, and it is still happening. Any ideas why this would happen?
