Hi all,
Want to migrate a domain controller from VM to physical machine. Should I follow below document to do it ??
http://www.vmware.com/support/v2p/doc/V2P_TechNote.pdf
Otherwise, will migrate ESX 4 to ESXi5 soon, will any different to do V2P ??
Thanks
Since you are wanting to migrate a Domain Controller why not go the easier route of just doing a fresh install of Windows and performing a DC Promo and elevating the new machine to be a Domain Controller
You can use Symantec System Recovery. It's ease tool and is available trial edition to do this. See more details in: http://www.symantec.com/system-recovery-server-edition
Does this DC do anything other than DC work? seriously if you need another DC or even want a physical one just build a new machine with the desired OS on its and run DCPromo. the road to P2Ving, V2Ving and V2Ping DC is littered with scores of dead VM admins who have thought that they knew better than the derived wisdom of those that travelled that path before.
Hello Tom
What about just V2P an application Windows 2008 server? I am task to V2P a VM onto a HP server.
Thank you !@
when doing a V2P I would have a look at platespin or Christie Software as they both have products that can aid in the injection of Storage device drivers needed to boot the guest on physical hardware.
