Using vicfg-cfgbackup during ESXi upgrade

Hello all,

We are working on upgrading from ESX 4.1 to ESXi 5.1.  We're doing this in a rolling fashion.  We'll take an ESX 4.1 host out of the cluster, rebuild it from scratch with ESXi 5.1, and then place it into a new cluster.  Is it possible and/or advisable to backup the ESX 4.1 configuration with vicfg-cfgbackup and then restore that configuration it's been upgraded to ESXi 5.1?  We don't have Enterprise Plus licensing so Host Profiles isn't an option (or at least that's my understanding).

Thanks for your help and advice!

I don't know that there is an "official" answer on this, but check out http://communities.vmware.com/thread/392759 for more info.
