Using Extents OR iscsi along with FC ?

Guys, I need to put few large files on the VMs. We need to provide almost 5TB to a VM. My current environment has only FC storage. Right now,we are on ESX 3.5 but we are going to move to vSpehre 4.1 very soon.
I am thiking what are my options available to provide such a large storage. Should we go for iSCSI and FC on the same server? Should we go for extents provided by FC.

Please let me know what you think about this setup and why.

Thanks

Even with Extents you are limited to 2TB for individual VMDKs. If you need to store very large files I would ask does your FC SAN have NAS capability or can you add it? Direcly presenting the LUN to a VM would be the only option if the files themselves approach 2TB.

Can't I add multiple extent of 2TB each ? I thought the max size what a datastore can grow is 64 TB i.e 32 extents of 2TB each ?

What am I missing here ?

Thanks

You can add extents to create a larger datastore but your VMDKs (virtual disks) are still limited to less than 2TB.
