Uploading ISO's to ESXI 4.1 datastore

Hi,

I just setup a host with ESXI 4.1, created a datastore with a folder for ISO's.I enabled SSH and have a 100Mb connection. So far, I had no success uploading ISO's to the datastore. Upload of a 2.5G iso estimates the upload time of 800 mins which is extremely long.

Is there any better way I can copy the ISO's to the datastore? Can they be directly copied from the host CD/DVD drive to the datastore?

Thank you!

Welcome to the Community,

Try using VI Client, select your Host Vmware > Configuration > Storage > Browse DataStore > have a icon Upload file or folder.

you can put CD/DVD in Host physical and mapping to Virtual Machine. Virtual machine > edit settings > CD

This 100MB is FULL DUPLEX ?

You can try with veeam fastscp http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esxi-fastscp.html

Is there a way to copy the ISO from host CD/DVD into the datastore? I don't want to copy it into the VM - since I have to repeat the same for every vm.

The connection is 100 Mb Full Duplex.

With mapping you only can use 1:1 .

Try with Veeam FastSCP and post result here.

In case of 100 MBit/s make sure the spped and duplex is configured as "fixed" on the host as well as on the switch (in case this is a managed switch). Auto negotiation sometimes does not work well in a 100 MBit/s network, since it was not standardized (opposed to 1 GBit/s networks).

Hi, you can use filezilla FTP client, it’s freeware, I pass you the link to download FIlezilla, http://downloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_3.5.0_win32-setup.exe

You can assign priority to upload files or folders

The issue seems to be our internal network which is very slow!
