Upgrading esxi 5.0 to 6.0 u1

Hi from Czech republic,

now i resolving situation where my customer has Fujitsu rx300 s7 with ESXi 5.0 and he bought new server Fujitsu with ESXi 6.0.

Now i´m  trying to find best practices to upgrade old server with 5.0 to 6.0 u1.

Whats your practise and experiences ?

Hi there,

This KB Document outlines your options, you can go directly from 5.0 to 6 so this shouldn't be too much of a problem, just make sure the hardware is on the HCL.

In my experience Update Manager is by far the easiest way to do the upgrade if you have the facility, if not the CD/USB/ISO mount option works just as well.

Hi,

now i preparing vm with update manager, i download customized images from Fujitsu. 5.1, 5.5 and 6.0.

I think, that best and secure way is upgrade to 5.1 > 5.5 > 6.0 Smiley Happy
