Upgrading VMware Tools on RHEL 4 64 bit

Hi,

I'm at present going through an upgrade on all of the VM's in a customers enviroment and have come accross an interesting issue, they have many versions of Linux and all seem to be fine with the VMtoools and Virtual Hardware upgrade to version 7 VM's but the VM's running RHEL version 4 64Bit panic once they restart.

I  have tried serveral things and it seems to be something to do with drive access as the OS cannot read the superblocks on the disks, I have tried upgrading the VMTools on there own and i get the same issue so it would seem the issue is with the version of tools, the hosts are 4.1 update 1 the version of tools is VMwareTools-8.3.7-341836.tar.gz.

Any Points would be usfull as Linux is not my first language...

Regards Spence..

I did a quick search in the forums and didn't see anything jump out although you may want to scan through yourself. Using a custom compiled kernel??

I would give VMware support a try. If this is an issue with a specific version of tools they might need to get involved anyway.
