Hi,
I have a HP Proliant Server running an HP custom image of ESXi 5.5.
We have a VMware Vsphere Essentials Plus license.
I want to upgrade to ESXi 6.6.
Our license does not include vSphere update manager.
I guess the best way to upgrade is doing an interactive update using an ESXi 6.0 ISO.
Do I use a generic ISO or again a HP ISO?
Are there any risks involved?
Assuming that you are using supported server hardware, you should definitely use the HPE OEM image, which includes required drivers.
I'd also recommend that you run a firmware update using the latest SPP 2016.10 which includes critical updates, e.g. for iLO.
