Upgrading ESXi 5.1 DELL build to 5.5 - question

Hello

I need to upgrade ESXi 5.1  build 799733 to version 5.5 it is DELL cutom build.

I've got one question to You about update path. Is it normal or do i have to get some special DELL version of ESXi 5.5 ?

Or maybe i need some additional steps ?

Hi,

You can directly install the DELL ISO images. The difference between the 2 is just that DELL ESXi customized ISO has Dell drivers installed on the ISO. Whereas the Vmware ISO doesn't.

I would suggest to upgrade using the Dell customized ISO and then use the VMware Update Manager to patch the host to the latest.

This way you know for sure you aren't missing certain drivers.
