I've just completed a vSphere upgrade from VI3.5. This included an upgrade of the VM Hardware from v4 to v7.
Since the upgrade the VM's take an age to reboot and also vCentre reports several virtual memory memory useage alarms during this period.
Currently none of the VM's run any production systems so it is difficult to gauge if I have performace issues but i'm worried about the sluggish reboots and alarms as this was not an issue in 3.5. Load is not a problem as I'm only running 5 VM's split accross two quad core ESX hosts.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Any help/comments appreciated.
It is not required to upgrade vHardware to ver 7, you can continue with ver 4 without problems.
I did not notice any problems with hardware upgrade also. But if you see sluggish performance on VMs check if any limits are set for VMs.

I spoke with VMware Support and they informed me after a second phone call that this is a known issue and a patch/update is in the works. They said is should be out by mid October. I have the exact same issue.
Can you elaborate a bit on what exactly the known issue is? Is it the vSphere upgrade, or the virtual hardware upgrade, or both? How can everyone avoid this problem?
