I'm running an ESXi host consisting of mostly budget consumer hardware. Al tough driver support for this hardware is scarce, I never had any problems.
I use this host for primarily for learning.
Recently I upgraded ESXi from 5.1 to 5.5 because Windows 8.1 guests gave me PSOD's. After the upgrade, the first problem I encountered was that the on-board SATA 3 controller wasn't recognized anymore. Using a tutorial I managed to install drivers which solved this problem.
My second concern is that the power technology enhanced AMD PowerNow! is not listed anymore. Nothing has changed in the BIOS since the upgrade.
Could anyone help me getting it to function again?
Motherboard: Asrock 880GMHUSB3
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055t
RAM: 16GB (4x4) 1333 1.5v Corsair
If it is not possible or not recommended to get Enhanced AMD PowerNow! working, could anyone help me setting the advanced custom power options to minimize energy consumption without destroying performance?
Thank you for your replies in advance.
